Nizhny Novgorod

Nizhny Novgorod (or Nizhny) is Russian Mega police where live more than 1000000 people. This city is one of Russian modern economic, trade and cultural regions of our country. 

Nizhny was found in 13 century by Prince Yuri II and later became part of Moscow Grand Duchy.  Since ancient times Nizhny Novgorod was Russian strategic location - situated on a river where river Oka joins Volga. The city was burned during Crimean Tatar invasion and later restored by Muscovites in 15 century. A beautiful fortress was built - one of the first citadels in Russia.

In 1612 city witnessed Russian Polish war. Local merchant Kuz'ma Minin and Knyaz Dmitry Pozharsky raised a self-made huge army and expelled the Polish troops, liberating Moscow and ending the time of troubles and setting Romanov monarchy. The main square in Nizhny is named in honor of Kuz'ma Minin. In 19th century Nizhny Novgorod became a strong trade center of Russia.

 

Today it is very modern, has its own Metro railway, airport and railway station, many business and commerce centers. Nizhny is worth seeing. There are many amazing places of interest, museums and beautiful buildings.

Veliky Novgorod

Veliky Novgorod, Novgorod the Great or Novgorod  (do not unmistaken with Nizhny Novgorod) is one of the most famous and significant historic cities in Russia. In 14th century it was also one of the largest European cities.

First the city was mentioned in 9th century. It is absolutely impossible to tell the whole story of Novgorod in one article and what this city saw in his life, but in a few words Novgorod always had political and cultural influence on Moscow, had a special autonomy from Moscow and many privileges.

 

By the way Novgorod was nee captures by Mongol invaders. Today in Novgorod live about 200000 people. The city has airport and a railway station.

Yekaterinburg

Yekaterinburg is the 4th largest city in Russia in Ural Federal District where it is regional economic and cultural center. It was founded in 18th century and named in honor of Peter the Greats' wife. Later Russia's impress Catherine the Great was so impressed that by the view of the city and the way of life and named is an administrative center of the region. Yekaterinburg is located between Europe and Asia 1600 km away from Moscow. 

 

In Soviet period Yekaterinburg became a center of heavy industry. The main spheres are machinery, metal processing and metallurgy. Today it is a also a business city. There are many companies and factories in Yekaterinburg. here is also located the tallest skyscraper in Russia after Moscow city.

The Valley of Geysers

The Valley of Geysers is a geyser field on Kamchatka Peninsula, Russia.

It is amazing place to visit. Valley is on the second place among largest concentration of geysers in the world.  The Valley of Geysers was discovered in 1941 by geologists Tatyana Ustinova and Anisifor Krupenin.

 

In Soviet Period this area became popular among touristic directions. Foreign tourists were allowed into the valley in 1991. About 3,000 tourists visited the site annually.

Altai Nature Reserve

Is a Russian national park in the Altai Mountains, located in the south of Siberia. One of main Russian wonders, part of the UNESCO World Heritage is widely recognized as one of the best National parks in our country.

Perm

Perm is modern Russian city located on the Kama River near the Ural Mountains (European part) with over 800000 inhabitants.

It is one more our giant industrial pole with key spheres as aviation, shipyards, oil production and chemistry. During World War Perm produced weapons and artillery for Russian Army.
