In general Russian Capital has wet and cold continental climate with short summers, rainy autumns and long, cold winters. From May to August average temperature is around 25 °C. In July there may be a few weeks when temperatures rise considerably, with average highs of 35ºC.

 

In winter season, the average temperature is from -5 to -15 °C with the coldest days reaching -30, -40 °C (traditionally in February). The first snow may fall in November and the last snow may melt at the end of April.

Despite Global warming winter 2016-2017 is promised to be the coldest one since 1910 year. In January the temperature will fall -15, -20 °C.
