Kvas

Kvas is a traditional Russian sparkling fermented nonalcoholic beverage, made on base of bread. Kvas became popular in Russia during the Peter the Great Epoch in 17th Century. Since that time Kvas became most popular non-alcoholic Russian drink.

 

Today in food stores you can find dozens of brands with different tastes. On the basis of Kvas we cook cold summer soup called Okroshka. You can also make your own Kvas at home just get all necessary ingredients and go. It is not difficult at all.  Sometimes to taste we add in Kvas different berries and fruits.
