The Day of Spring and Labour

The Day of Spring and Labor or The First May Day, also known before as Labor Day or International Workers' Day is a national public holiday in Russia. In Russian history this holiday was one of the most important holidays in the socialistic period. For example, during the Cold War, May Day was good occasion for extensive military parades in Red Square.

Since 1992, First May Day is officially called "The Day of Spring and Labor", and is one of principal holidays in present Russia with several official days off.

Today First May is not a political holiday. It is a good traditional day when Russians do not work for several days, celebrate labor and spring (actually in Most Russian regions first warm spring days with temperature 15C + comes only in May).

At this holiday we attend different concerts and city shows in public areas or go to country houses for family and friends meetings.
